Friends Of Priors School...
Friends of Priors School
(FOPS) are a warm and friendly group of parents and staff who
work collectively to provide both social and fund raising
events for the school.
With the charitable status that the school
holds, FOPS is a vital part of school life.
The current helpers are mainly school
parents, with support from relatives, villagers, past
parents and other local people and are always looking to
welcome new people and fresh ideas. No experience is
necessary, just the desire to have fun, and make a
difference to our school. Regular events are organised such
as the Christmas Fayre, Bonfire Night and some of the events
in the last couple of years have included a 50s Night, Quiz
Night, Gold Day, Summer Family Fun Day, Live Blues Band,
Barn Dance, Swedish Midsummer, Dinner Dance, Arabian Night,
Family Bingo, Babysitting, Summer Ice Creams and Friday
Market. The biggest benefit parents have found through their
involvement with FOPS is that they get to know people very
quickly and have an instant social life, whether or not they
live in the village.
FOPS also runs an essential volunteer
register, where parents and local people offer a little of
their time and / or skills to the school in a variety of
ways. The more volunteers we have, the less work for any
one individual.
Where
do the FOPS funds go?
Firstly, it's important to
understand that all the money that we raise is raised by the
school for the school - it's our mission to raise much
needed funds.
Secondly, the way the
money is spent is a direct result of discussion with the
teachers and trustees (a group of directors responsible for
the overall management and co-ordination of the school). As
a team we decide upon the best way to spend our funds that
means the most to the whole school.
