A
Snapshot View of The Priors Nursery...
This half term the children in the nursery are learning
about Festivals. We got off to a very exciting start after
a very kind invitation from the Village Toddler Group to
join them, with the reception children for a Halloween Party
and lunch.
The children were very excited; they all dressed up in their
scariest costumes and still managed to look gorgeous. We
arrived to a beautifully decorated hall, a bouncy castle,
face painting and lots of Halloween activities. A really
imaginative lunch was provided, a feast for the eyes as well
as the tummy, and this was followed by a game of “pass the
parcel” and judging of the fancy dress competition, not an
easy task. A good time was had by all and heart felt thanks
go to the kind organisers in the toddler group.
Hot on the heels of “Halloween” we have had “Bonfire
Night”. Most of the children attended and enjoyed it very
much. We have been treated to action replays with the
children charging about being fireworks and making firework
noises: they have produced some lovely lively firework
pictures.
Way back in September the nursery children were doing a
topic about themselves. As part of this they entered a
young writer’s competition in which they had to write a poem
about themselves. The best poems were to be published in a
volume of first poems. The poems were duly sent off and we
forgot all about them, so imagine our delight when we heard
recently that all of our poems had been chosen and are to be
published in February next year. The children are very
pleased and excited.
We are now beginning to think about Christmas, planning our
plays and learning carols and Christmas songs. We have our
parties, performances, community lunch and panto to look
forward to before the great day itself.
Oh what it is to be young!
